How to Clean My Abdominal Binder With Peroxide
Patients who are recovering from surgery in the lower abdomen, such as a Caesarean section, appendectomy or tummy tuck, often use a supportive garment called an abdominal binder. The garment can be worn for a few weeks to months to aid healing. The abdominal binder must be cleaned periodically to help prevent infection. Does this Spark an idea?

Lay the abdominal binder out flat and look for stains. Pour 1 to 3 tsp. of hydrogen peroxide on stains and allow them to bubble up. Once they stop bubbling, pat them dry.

Fill a large bowl or sink with warm water and 1 to 3 tbsp. of a gentle laundry detergent. Place the abdominal binder in the bowl and scrub it gently with your hands for 4 to 6 minutes, making sure the detergent works into the binder.

Dump out the soapy water and fill the bowl with clean, cool water. Rinse the abdominal binder in the clean water. Keep dumping and refilling the bowl with clean water until there is no more soap in the abdominal binder.

Fill the bowl with clean water and pour in 1/3 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Soak the binder for 30 minutes to an hour in the mixture.

Dump the water and hydrogen peroxide mixture and gently wring out the abdominal binder with your hands. Pat the binder dry with a towel and hang it on a clothesline or a hanger until it is completely dry.

Do not place the abdominal binder in the washing machine or dryer as this may ruin the garment.
