Fabric Not Moving
-
1
Examine the feed dog on the machine to see whether it is in the down position. Raise the feed dog and see whether the fabric will now move correctly.
-
2
Verify that the machine or needle is moving when you apply pressure to the presser foot or foot pedal. If the machine or needle is moving, you may not be applying enough pressure to the foot pedal.
-
-
3
Determine the setting for the stitch strength dial on the machine. If the dial is set to zero, the fabric will not move through the machine. Choose a setting that is between 1 and 4. Check and see whether the fabric will now move.
Puckering of Fabric
-
4
Examine the tension that is set for the machine. When the tension is set too tight, puckering will occur on the fabric. Adjust or reset the tension.
-
5
Apply less pressure to the foot pedal or vary the amount of pressure you are applying when sewing to see if the puckering goes away.
-
6
Verify that you are using the correct needle and thread with the fabric you are attempting to sew. If the wrong size needle or the wrong thread type is used, puckering will occur.
