Depending on your original hair color, certain hair dyes can leave your hair with a greenish tint due to the chemicals reacting with your hair's enzymes. The green tint generally appears immediately after dying your hair with a commercial hair dye product. The tint is unattractive and frustrating. You don't have to reapply dye to your hair or consult with a salon. You can get the green out of your hair using a homemade solution. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • Regular shampoo
  • Plastic container or bowl
  • Spoon
  • Conditioner
  • Effervescent tablets (Alka-Seltzer or similar brand)
  • Cold water
  • Baby shampoo

Instructions

  1. Removing With Baking Soda

      Mix ½ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of regular shampoo in a plastic container or bowl.

      Use a spoon to stir the mixture into a paste.

      Apply the paste to your hair. Let it sit for five minutes.

      Rinse the paste from your hair thoroughly with cold water.

      Wash your hair with shampoo and then condition it.

    Removing With Effervescent Tablet Mixture

      Place two effervescent tablets and 2/3 cup of cold water in a plastic container or bowl. The tablets will dissolve automatically.

      Add 1 tbsp. of baby shampoo to the plastic container or bowl. Stir the mixture with a spoon.

      Apply the mixture to your hair. Let it sit for five minutes.

      Rinse the mixture from your hair thoroughly with warm water. Wash your hair with regular shampoo and then condition it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Note, a portion, if not all, of the dye in your hair will be removed along with the green tint.
