How to Use a USB Flash Drive on a PS2 thumbnail
A USB flash drive connects to the PS2 like a computer.

The Sony PlayStation 2 video game console allows users to plug USB flash drives into the system to upload and download information. Sadly, many games chose to overlook this feature. Only two games use it: "Gran Turismo 4" and "Tourist Trophy." Both games, which are made by Polyphony Digital, allow users to download images from the in-game photo mode as JPG image files on the USB drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the flash drive into a USB port along the front of the PS2.

    • 2

      Press the power button.

    • 3

Insert "Gran Turismo 4." After the game loads, select "photo mode." Inside this mode, you can select from different backgrounds across Japan, Europe and the United States. Position the car how you want it and adjust the light input. Take the photo. Once the image is complete, it will ask you where you want to save it. Select USB drive and the file will save to it.

Take out the game and put "Tourist Trophy" in. Select the photo mode and go through the same options as the ones in "Gran Turismo 4." After the photo is created, select USB drive and the file will save directly to it.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more you adjust the settings to your liking, the more unique the image will turn out.

  • Pulling the USB drive out before it says "save complete" will corrupt it and any files saved onto it.
