How Do You Remove Stickers From Furniture?

Children enjoy playing with stickers and often decorate every surface they can find with their favorites. When that surface ends up being your furniture, you are left with the task of removing the sticker and its sticky residue. Use products and supplies from home to remove stickers and residue from your furniture. The sooner you tend to pesky stickers, the more easily they will come off and the less residue they will leave.   1. Hard-Surface Furniture

      Heat your clothing iron on the steam setting. Apply the steam to the site of the sticker on your hard-surface furniture. The steam from the iron is often enough to loosen the sticker from hard surfaces such as glass, metal or wood.

      Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and wipe it over the sticker if it's really stuck on the hard-surfaced furniture. Allow the rubbing alcohol to sit on the sticker for a few minutes.

      Soak another cotton swab in vegetable oil and rub it onto the sticker residue left on your hard-surface furniture.

      Mix a cleaning solution of 1/2 gallon warm water and a few drops of mild dish detergent in a bucket. Dampen a paper towel with the soapy solution and blot at the site where the sticker was stuck on your upholstered furniture.   • Purchase a sticker book for your child so they have a place to stick stickers that doesn't involve your furniture.

  • Old stickers that are really stuck on hard-surface furniture may need to sit overnight with oil on them in order to loosen the adhesive enough for removal.
