Decide how you will create your pigtails. For long hair, you may want to separate your hair into two halves and pull all of your hair back into the pigtails. For shorter hair, you may opt to make two smaller pigtails on the top of your head and allow the lower half of your hair to hang loose. You could also make two very small pigtails in the front of your hair using only the hair at the top front of your scalp.

Part your hair for the pigtails with the pointed end of the rat tail comb and pull your hair back into the pigtails. Comb each pigtail well to make them smooth and secure the pigtails with the elastic hair bands. Making your hair spike up from the pigtails creates a "fountain" effect on the top of your head, which some people enjoy. To achieve this, make the pigtails tight and the hair in the pigtails will naturally explode from the elastic bands in all directions.

Insert the clippies around the pigtails to decorate your style. Place the first clippie approximately 2 inches away from the hairband into the hair you tightly pulled back into the pigtail. Snap the clippie into place and it will rest snugly on your scalp. Place the next clippie immediately in front of this clippie and continue adding clippies all the way around the elastic hairband to surround the pigtail. Repeat the same process around the second pigtail.

Spray your hair lightly with hairspray to set the style.

Tips & Warnings
To do a small girl's fine hair, you may be able to secure the pigtails with the clippies themselves, instead of using hairbands. Pull small amounts of hair back for the pigtails and insert a clippie around each pigtail to secure them in the hair. The hair must be very fine to hold back with clippies in this fashion, however.
