How to Format Address Labels in Word

In addition to allowing you to create basic word processing documents and things like brochures and pamphlets, Microsoft Word also allows you to create standard address labels. You can then add any text you'd like using all of the graphical enhancements that Word offers you to these labels. Just make sure that Microsoft's Word address labels utility is formatted correctly to make sure that your labels come out at the right size.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Word via one of its shortcut icons on your computer (commonly the desktop or the Start menu).

    • 2

Click "File" and then "New." Select "Labels" from the column on the left side of the screen to view a list of the various types of labels you can create using Microsoft Word.

    • 3

Choose the specific type of labels that you'd like to create from the list in the center of the screen. Click "Create" to create a new blank template featuring the exact type of labels you have created.

    • 4

Click "Page Layout" and then "Margins." Look on the type of label paper you'll be using to print your labels for the exact margins that you should use. Enter those dimensions into the "Margins" box on screen and click "OK." Your address labels in Microsoft Word are now properly formatted and are ready for you to insert your own personal information.
