How to Remove Smart Ink
Smart Ink stains can be intimidating to tackle and many times no one is to blame except for a leaky cartridge which can be even more frustrating. Immediate action is the best preventative for a permanent reminder of an ink cartridge spill and the solution for an effective clean-up is easy as well. You probably already have the ingredients for an ink stain removal solution in your home and after reviewing this simple procedure you will not have to worry about permanent Smart Ink stains anymore. Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Rubbing alcohol
- Hairspray
- Clothing or dish detergent
- Water
- Sponge

Blot any excess ink with paper towels.

Saturate the stain with rubbing alcohol and blot with more paper towels. Repeat until no more ink will be absorbed into the paper towel.

Spray the hairspray onto the stain.

Dab the stain with the laundry detergent (if the stained item is clothing or something that can be laundered in the washing machine) or dish detergent (if the stained item is something that cannot be laundered in the washing machine like carpet).

Launder the item as usual in the washing machine. If the item cannot be laundered blot the detergent with a clean damp sponge until all of the detergent has been removed from the item.

Tips & Warnings
If the ink on the stain item has already dried, allow the rubbing alcohol to sit on the stain for up to one hour. Do not let the alcohol dry. Keep re-saturating the stain to keep it damp.
You may use acetone (nail polish remover) to remove Smart Ink from hard surfaces. However, be sure that the acetone will not damage the finish on the hard surface.
If you are unsure of the colorfastness of the stained item, do a spot test on an inconspicuous part of the item. Blot the rubbing alcohol on the item and check for colorfastness after ten minutes.
