How to Make Your Hair Look Emo
Emo is a term used to describe both a genre of music and a personal style often characterized by tight clothing, black eyeliner and deliberately messy or asymmetrical hairstyles. Part of being emo is expressing your individuality through your appearance so don't be upset if you can't mimic someone else's style precisely. Wet your hair with a spray bottle full of water or begin styling your hair while it is still damp from washing.

Scoop up a half dollar size amount of hair gel and work it through your hair with your fingers from the roots to the tips. You may need to use more gel if you have long hair to ensure that all of your hair is covered with a thin coat of gel.

Comb your bangs forward so that they hang in your face. If you don't have bangs, starting combing your hair forward from the top center of your head. The hair you combed forward will now be referred to as your bangs.

Arrange your bangs until you are happy with their appearance. You may want to comb them to one side to cover one of your eyes or trim them with scissors to create an uneven and messy appearance.

Blow dry your hair using your hair dryer's low setting to set the gel without disturbing your hairstyle.

Spray a firm hold hairspray onto your hair to set your emo hairstyle.

Tips & Warnings
Back-comb your hair if you would like to add volume to your emo hairstyle or create a puffy, bed-head look. Hold your hair straight up where you would like to add the volume and place the comb into your hair approximately 2 to 3 inches above your scalp and firmly comb down to the roots of your hair. Repeat this process several times until you have created a cushion of hair close to your scalp. Let go of your hair and this cushion will raise it up slightly and give your hair a volumized appearance.
