How to Convert Wps Files to Open Office

A text file created in the Microsoft Works software is going to have a .WPS file format. This file format will allow the program to be opened in three common word processing utilities--the aforementioned Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office Word and Open Office. If you want to convert your .WPS file to the Open Office file format, you'll need to open your file in Open Office and then save it as the new file extension.

Instructions

1. Click "Start."

2. Click "All Programs."

3. Select the "Open Office" folder and click on "Open Office" to launch the application.

4. Click "Open a Document" from the main Open Office screen and use the dialog box to open your .WPS file in Open Office.

5. Click "File" and "Save As." Select the Open Office word processing document file type from the menu on screen and click "Save As" to convert your Microsoft Works text document to the Open Office file format.
