      Write the keywords or main ideas on the top line of the note cards. If your project has specific objectives, make a note card for each of the objectives and title the top line of each of the cards with the objective. For example, if you are taking notes on the United States Flag, title your cards "History", "Changes Made", "Symbolism" and "Flag Traditions."

      List the key pieces of information on the note cards. Do not write out entire paragraphs while taking notes. Focus only on the most important pieces of information.

      List the source of your reference and page number or website next to the informational pieces or on the back of each card.
