How to Create a Free Resume in Microsoft Word
Any time you are seeking new employment, it is vital that you have a comprehensive, professional-looking resume. Many job posting websites and companies require that you upload or email an electronic copy of your resume, such as a Word document, before they will even consider you for a position. Fortunately, Microsoft Word offers numerous free, built-in resume templates from which you can choose to create a polished resume quickly.
Instructions

Create a resume in Word 2003

Go to the File menu and click New. Click Templates on Office Online.

Type resume into the Search box. Select and download the template you want to use.

Type over the sample resume text using your own information. Save the resume when finished.

Use the Resume Wizard instead of a template. Go to the File menu and select New. Select On My Computer under Templates.

Go to the Other Documents tab of the Templates on My Computer dialog box. Double-click Resume Wizard to start the wizard. Enter your information into the wizard and follow the steps to create a resume.
Create a Resume in Word 2007

Open a new Word document.

Click the Office Button and select New.

Click Resumes and CVs under Templates in the New Document window.

Select the type of resume you want. Click the resume template you wish to use and click the Download button.

Enter your information over the sample text in the resume. Save and distribute it as desired.
Create a Resume in Word 2010

Start Microsoft Word.

Go to the File tab. Click New in the left side of the Backstage View window.

Click the Resumes and CVs folder under Templates.

Select the folder for the type of resume you wish to use. Click on a resume in the gallery to preview it. Click the Download button to select the template you wish to use.

Enter your information over the sample text in the resume. Save and distribute it as desired.

Tips & Warnings
The Resume Wizard is not available in Word 2007 or 2010.
