Damaging the surface of a CD with a foreign substance makes it difficult, if not impossible to use. You can remove Super Glue from the surface of a CD, however. You will need a few common household items and a work area that can be left undisturbed for a few days. Removing Super Glue from a CD does not require any special skills or expertise.

    Things You'll Need

    • Newspaper
    • Soft cloth
    • Lint free cloth
    • Sponge
    • Nail polish remover
    • Soft bristle toothbrush
    • Drying rack

        Put three sheets of newspaper on a table. Put the soft cloth on the newspaper. Place the CD, label side down on the soft cloth.

        Wipe off the surface of the CD with a lint-free cloth. Apply nail polish remover to the Super Glue on the surface of the CD.

        Place the bristles of the toothbrush on the Super Glue. Gently brush the toothbrush back and forth from left to right over the surface of the CD where the Super Glue is. Remove the toothbrush after five minutes of brushing. Repeat the entire procedure of applying nail polish remover and using the toothbrush.

        Soak a sponge in tap water. Place the sponge on the surface of the CD where the Super Glue is. Leave the sponge on the CD for two days.

        Remove the sponge. Gently brush the toothbrush back and forth from left to right over the surface of the CD where the Super Glue is for five minutes Wipe the surface of the CD where the Super Glue is with an edge of the lint-free cloth.

        Hold the CD under the kitchen faucet. Turn on the water. Soak the entire CD in water.

        Place the CD in a drying rack. The CD is now free of the Super Glue. You can use it again once it has completely dried.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Practice removing Super Glue from an old CD or a blank recordable CD before doing it on the CD you want to save.

    • Wear protective gloves when using the nail polish remover.

    • Super Glue can pull skin off if it gets onto your hands.

    • The area where you are using the nail polish remover must have adequate ventilation, or the fumes will cause headaches.
