How to Tweeze Hair Growth

Tweezers are a useful grooming tool.

The most common reason to use tweezers when removing hair growth is to arch, groom and maintain eyebrows. Because of their compact size and slanted tips, they are perfect for areas that have minimal but troublesome hair growth, such as a woman's upper lip, or removing individual, rogue hairs from undesirable locations. Used correctly tweezers are one of the most valuable and inexpensive tools in your beauty or grooming arsenal. Used incorrectly, however, removing hair growth with tweezers can cause painful problems that might not be worth the stray hair that you've removed.

Things You'll Need

• Tweezers
• Cotton balls
• Alcohol
• Warm water
• Witch hazel

Instructions

1. Sanitize your tweezers. A clean pair of tweezers is crucial to preventing infection when tweezing hair growth from any location. Moisten a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and thoroughly wipe down the tips of your tweezers. Dry with a clean cloth or allow the tweezers to air dry before using them.

2. Cleanse the area that you plan to tweeze. Thoroughly wash your face, arms or wherever you want to tweeze the excess hair growth. Taking a warm to hot shower is the best way to accomplish this, as the steam from the water will open your pores and make it easier for hair removal.

3. Stand in front of a mirror and prepare the hair. If you are planning to pull several hairs, comb them in the direction of your natural hair growth. Place your tweezers at the base of the first hair to be pulled, close to the skin. With your opposite hand pull the skin in front of the hair taut, and smoothly pull the hair with your tweezers, swiftly and completely from the root. Repeat this step until each hair has been removed.

4. Wipe the area with witch hazel or an astringent. Witch hazel will close your pores as well as soothe, tighten and cleanse your skin after removing the unwanted hair growth. Clean your tweezers with the alcohol before putting them away.
