How to Open Double Jump Rings
Split rings are also called double jump rings. Like jump rings, they are used as connectors between components in jewelry pieces. They are more secure because the double rings cannot accidentally open. Split ring pliers simplify the process of opening double jump rings.

Pick up the double jump ring with the split ring pliers. The bent tip of the pliers should rest on top of the split ring.

Press the handles of the split ring pliers so that the bent tip separates the double rings.

Slide the loop of your jewelry component into the opening. Keep sliding until the component is completely on the split ring. Release the split ring pliers to close the opening and remove the double jump ring.

I recently had a customer ask me for split rings 6mm and double jumprings 6 mm - I was perplexed as to what the difference was? I own a bead store/studio and told her in my opinion, they are the same thing commonly known as split rings and that I've even heard them even called key chain rings. Beth
