How to Make Fast Cash As a Kid
Most kids won't be able to secure a "traditional" job until they are 15 to 16 years old. However, there are ways for younger kids to make modest amounts of cash fairly quickly by taking advantages of opportunities in their community and even their own home. Encouraging your kids to seek money-making opportunities will inspire creativity, foster entrepreneurship and will provide them with a work ethic that will be valuable to employers if and when they seek employment in the future.

Create a list of potential opportunities in your neighborhood or community such as lawn mowing/weeding, dog walking, baby sitting, shoveling snow, washing cars, and doing chores for parents or other family members. However, there may be other opportunities available such as selling toys or crafts at garage sale, selling garden grown fruits and vegetables at a stand or selling baked goods at a local farmers market. Many of these ideas will require at least some help or supervision from a parent or older sibling depending upon the age of the child to ensure their safety and security.

Decide on one or two specific ideas and decide how much you will charge for your services or products. Most people are willing to pay kids a modest amount for services. Kids should be open to negotiate prices for services such as lawn mowing, car washing and babysitting.

Market and advertise your services or products. Create fliers on a computer or by hand that detail the services that are being offered by the child such as babysitting or dog walking. With adult supervision a child can approach neighbors and family members directly and offer to do chores or small tasks in exchange for compensation.
