How to Remove Waterproof Mascara From Carpeting

Remove waterproof mascara stains from carpeting right away.

Despite your best efforts to keep your waterproof mascara on your lashes, accidents happen. Waterproof mascara is designed to stay on, so if you've dropped your mascara wand on the carpet, getting rid of the stain will take a little more effort than with regular mascara. Attempts at removing waterproof mascara from carpeting are most effective when you treat the stain right away.

Things You'll Need

• Dry-cleaning solvent
• Two sponges
• Mild laundry detergent
• Water
• Paper towels

Instructions

1. Scrape any excess mascara off the carpet. Be careful not to smear it.

2. Pour a small amount of dry-cleaning solvent onto a sponge. Dab the mascara stain with the sponge, then blot with a clean paper towel.

3. Add a tsp. of mild laundry detergent to one cup warm water. Dampen the other end of the sponge with the mixture and dab the stain. Afterward, blot the area with a clean paper towel.

4. Wet another sponge with clean water and dab the stained area. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until the stain is removed.

5. Blot the carpet dry with a clean paper towel.
