How to Get Rid of Cysts Under the Skin thumbnail
This little ice cube may just be your salvation.

You wash your face in the morning and feel a bump just under your skin. You look into the mirror and you see a flesh-colored, only-slightly-raised bump. You know tomorrow it's going to be red and much more obvious, but you don't know what to do about it. You know from experience that touching it might make it worse, so what to do? Surely there's more you can do than just sitting around waiting for it to show its ugly head. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your face with a gentle soap twice a day. More than that can lead to irritation and make matters worse.

    • 2

Get an ice cube from the freezer and put it against the cyst. You can wrap it in a thin towel or a plastic bag so it's easier to handle and doesn't directly touch your skin. Leave it against your skin for one or two minutes. Repeat this as often as you like. The ice may reduce swelling and redness.

    • 3

Take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen. Refer to the directions on the packaging for the correct dosage. Don't take it if you are allergic.

    • 4

Apply a mixture of crushed aspirin and water to the cyst before you sleep. You can also use other spot-treatment acne medication if you wish. Put a plaster on the area to make sure that you don't touch the cyst in your sleep.

    • 5

Apply some noncomedogenic concealer to hide the cyst if you're going out so it's not very obvious. You can also use tinted acne medication that will also treat your cyst while hiding it.

    • 6

Visit your dermatologist and request a cortisone shot if you have an important event coming up. A cortisone shot will immediately reduce inflammation, speed up healing and minimize scarring.
