There are a variety of different kinds of scented and unscented bath salts available for purchase; however, these products can become costly. If enjoy relaxing in the bathtub with bath salts, consider making your own. Homemade bath salts with essential oils provide a calming bath experience for a fraction of the cost of store-bought salts. Things You'll Need

  • 2 cups dead sea salt or Epsom salt
  • Metal or glass bowl
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • Spoon
  • 10 to 12 drops essential oil
  • Glass jar with lid

Instructions

      Pour two cups of dead sea salt or Epsom salt into a metal or glass bowl. If you have both types of salt on hand you can use 1 cup of each.

      Add 2 tsp. baking soda. Stir to combine the dry ingredients.

      Add 10 to 12 drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture. Lavender, eucalyptus and vanilla are common essential oils used for bath salts.

      Stir the mixture for about two minutes to thoroughly combine the ingredients. Store in a glass jar with a lid.
