How to Heal an Ingrown Hair in the Labia Area

How to Heal an Ingrown Hair in the Labia Area thumbnail
Clear up your ingrown hair before it becomes painful.

The labia is the structure that resembles lips around a woman's vagina. This are is a soft, flexible skin that, like the rest of the pubic area, may produce hair. If you shave the hair around and on the labia it is possible to obtain an ingrown hair. Ingrown hairs occur when a hair follicle is not able to penetrate the exterior of the skin, forcing it to grow underneath the surface. This causes a painful, pimple-looking bump. This is especially painful around the vaginal area so you need to make cure and heal the ingrown hair as quickly as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Apply salicylic acid to a cue tip and apply it to the ingrown hair. This is often used to clear up pores and is a common product in most facial washes. Rub the acid in gently into the ingrown hair.

    • 2

Repeat the application process at least once a day. Eventually the ingrown hair's pore clears up, allowing the hair to grow free.

    • 3

Clean your razors after shaving around the pubic area (or use a brand new razor every time). Older razors are more likely to irritate the skin and cause the ingrown hairs.

    • 4

Apply a lubricating shaving cream when you shave around the pubic area. This prevents the razor for forcing the hair follicle back into the skin (which leads to the ingrown hair). Avoid shaving cream with alcohol in it (this dries out the skin and shrinks the pores around your hair).

    • 5

Gently exfoliate the pubic area while showering (you may use bath luffas or your hand). This removes the dead skin cells around the labia and reduces the likelihood of receiving additional ingrown hairs.
