Instructions

    • 1

Measure the bottle of hand sanitizer. Sanitizer bottles vary in size. Measure around the middle of your bottle and the height of the bottle from the bottom to the neck. Do not include the neck or pump portion of the bottle. Write down these numbers.

    • 2

Make a pattern using the two dimensions. For example, the measurement around the bottle might be 8-1/2 inches and the height 5 inches. Add 1 inch to both numbers to account for seam allowance. Then add an additional 1 inch to the short ends for overlap. Make a rectangle pattern that is 10-1/2 by 6 inches on a sheet of paper. Cut out the pattern using your bottle's dimensions.

    • 3

Cut out the fabric. Set the pattern on the fabric that is doubled in thickness so you cut out two pieces of fabric at the same time.

    • 4

Cut out the batting. The batting does not need to be doubled. Only one piece of batting is needed, so cut one 10-1/2 by 6 inch piece of batting.

    • 5

Sew the bottle holder. Place the two pieces of fabric with right sides touching. Set the batting on one piece of fabric so the batting is resting on the wrong side of the fabric. There will be a thickness of three pieces. Sew the three pieces together around the two long sides and one of the short sides of the fabric. Trim the batting at the two corners so it won't be so bulky when the fabric is turned. Use the remaining side that is open to turn the bottle holder right side out. Use a straight pin to pull the corners out neatly.

    • 6

Add Velcro. Velcro comes with two sides, which when they meet, grab and hold fabric together. Cut a strip of Velcro a 5 inches long. Sew one side of the Velcro to the finished side of the bottle holder. On the open end of the sanitizer holder, turn the fabric in to hide the raw ends of the fabric and lay the other strip of Velcro on top of the turned in edges of fabric. Ensure that the fabric with the Velcro strips overlaps and are aligned so the Velcro will hold the bottle holder closed. Sew the second piece of Velcro to the fabric. This will close the remaining open end of the bottle holder.

Tips & Warnings
