Homemade Bird Food Ornaments

Making homemade bird food ornaments can be an easy way to attract birds to your property. For the naturalist or bird watcher in your family this homemade ornament can be a great gift. These bird feeders can be made with just a few simple ingredients. You can keep the birds fed outside your home during the long winter months.

Things You'll Need

• 2 cups chopped suet
• 1 cup creamy peanut butter
• 2 cups cornmeal
• Bird seed
• Ribbon

Instructions

1. Heat two cups of suet over a low heat until melted. Strain melted mixture to separate any leftover particles.

2. Stir one cup of peanut butter into suet until thoroughly mixed.

3. Add cornmeal into the peanut butter and suet mixture and knead until thoroughly incorporated.

4. Divide mixture into eight sections and mold into different shapes. Coat in bird seed.

5. Poke a hole in the top of each ornament and place a piece of ribbon loop into the hole. Place finished ornaments in refrigerator until hardened. Once hardened, hang ornaments outside.
