How to Use Lemon Juice to Change Your Hair Color
Highlights are becoming increasingly popular with both women and men. However, the cost of highlights can become expensive. For those who want a subtle lightening, lemon juice and sunlight is an option. Lightening hair with lemon juice and sunlight works best on dirty blond hair. On brown hair, lemon juice and sunlight creates lightened hair that is more on the auburn side. This process also is time consuming, so it works best when applied during a day at the beach. Loosen the lemon by pounding it against a hard surface. Continue pounding the lemon until it feels softer and easier to squeeze.

Cut the lemon in half. Squeeze the fresh lemon juice into a spray bottle and then add water. The mixture should contain about 1 tbsp. of lemon juice for every quart of water.

Spray the mixture on your hair. You can spray the entire area or just certain strands of hair.

Stay in sunlight for 60 minutes. Be careful not to stay in the sun for too long or your hair will become damaged and brittle.

Rinse your hair with water.

Apply conditioner to your hair and leave it on for at least three minutes. Rinse your hair with water again.

Repeat this process as often as you want. Make sure to rinse and condition after every hour to protect your hair from damage.
