How to Make a Deer Feeder for Sheds
While some people build deer feeders to attract deer for hunting purposes, you may wish to attract deer to your yard just to enjoy their natural beauty. One way to do this is to attach a deer feeder to the side of a nearby shed. This type of deer feeder is very simple to build and can provide enjoyment for years to come.
Things You'll Need
- PVC pipe, 4-inch, 6-foot-long section
- 2 PVC pipe caps
- 5-gallon plastic bucket
- Hacksaw
- two-by-four, 2 feet long
- Nylon rope or bungee cording
- PVC cement
- 4 all-weather screws, 3 inches
- Hand-held drill
Instructions

1
Cut a hole in the PVC pipe. Cut a hole in the PVC pipe where the feed will be released. Use a hacksaw to cut a 2-inch by 2-inch hole approximately 2 inches from the bottom of the pipe. Attach one cap to the bottom end of the PVC pipe with PVC cement.

2
Glue the pipe to the inside of the bucket. Glue the PVC pipe, bottom side down, inside the 5-gallon plastic bucket. The pipe should rest vertically against the inside of the bucket about 3 inches from the bottom. Allow the glue to dry.

Use bungee cords to secure the bucket to the post. Attach the feeder to the bottom of the two-by-four with nylon rope or cording. Wrap and tie the rope tightly around the board and feeder to hold them securely together. Then continue to wrap the cord around the PVC pipe the full length of the two-by-four.

4
Attach the feeder to your shed. Use a drill and long screws to attach the two-by-four to the outside wall of your shed. Make sure the bucket is close enough to the ground for the deer to reach the feed at the bottom of the bucket.
-
5
Fill the feeder with the proper deer feed. Pour feed into the top of the PVC pipe and cap the pipe. As you fill the feeder, a small amount of feed should pour out through the hole at the bottom of the pipe until the hole is covered. Continue to pour the feed into the top of the pipe until it is full. As the deer eat the feed from the bucket, gravity will pull the feed down from inside the pipe to keep the bucket full.
