Cut a hole in the PVC pipe.

Cut a hole in the PVC pipe where the feed will be released. Use a hacksaw to cut a 2-inch by 2-inch hole approximately 2 inches from the bottom of the pipe. Attach one cap to the bottom end of the PVC pipe with PVC cement.

Glue the pipe to the inside of the bucket.
Glue the pipe to the inside of the bucket.

Glue the PVC pipe, bottom side down, inside the 5-gallon plastic bucket. The pipe should rest vertically against the inside of the bucket about 3 inches from the bottom. Allow the glue to dry.

Attach the feeder to the bottom of the two-by-four with nylon rope or cording. Wrap and tie the rope tightly around the board and feeder to hold them securely together. Then continue to wrap the cord around the PVC pipe the full length of the two-by-four.

Attach the feeder to your shed.
Attach the feeder to your shed.

Use a drill and long screws to attach the two-by-four to the outside wall of your shed. Make sure the bucket is close enough to the ground for the deer to reach the feed at the bottom of the bucket.

    • 5
Fill the feeder with the proper deer feed.
Fill the feeder with the proper deer feed.

Pour feed into the top of the PVC pipe and cap the pipe. As you fill the feeder, a small amount of feed should pour out through the hole at the bottom of the pipe until the hole is covered. Continue to pour the feed into the top of the pipe until it is full. As the deer eat the feed from the bucket, gravity will pull the feed down from inside the pipe to keep the bucket full.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check with your local wildlife management agency to ensure you are using the proper type of feed for the deer in your area.

  • In some places it is illegal to use a deer feeder as a hunting tool. Please check the regulations in your area.
