Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • Paper and pencil
  • ¼-inch plywood
  • Table saw
  • Felt tip marker
  • Metal shears
  • Copper sheeting
  • Screws
  • Power drill
  • Construction adhesive

      Measure the backsplash area and note the dimensions.

      Transfer the measurements from to the plywood. Cut the plywood with the table saw.

      Set the piece of plywood into backsplash area to make sure it will fit.

      Place the copper sheet upside down on the floor. Set the piece of plywood on top of the copper sheet and trace around the plywood with the marker.

      Cut around the outline.

      Place the plywood in the backsplash area. Secure it to the studs in the wall with screws using the power drill.

      Apply construction adhesive to the back of the cut-out copper. Position the copper on the plywood and press into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply lacquer with a cloth or rag to preserve the shiny look of the copper.

  • Copper nails can be used to secure the copper to the wall, if necessary.
