Instructions

  1. Prepare for Your Jump

    • 1

Meet height and weight requirements. People of any age can bungee jump in Washington, but you need to weigh between 90 and 310 lbs. If the jumper is under 18, he will need to have a release form signed by a parent or guardian. (Reference 2)

Select a bungee-jumping service. You have two options in Washington. The most popular is by far Bungee Masters (Resource 1). They operate jumping services off of a private bridge in Washington.

You can also contact Vertigo Bungee (Resource 2), out of Hobart, WA .

    • 3

Make an appointment. Whichever outfitter you choose, make an appointment for a day when everyone can make it. Weekends are often busy, but with advance notice you should have no trouble getting a time slot. If you have a larger group, outfitters will often make special weekday arrangements to accommodate you.

Decide if you will jump tandem or solo. You can jump alone, or be strapped to a jump master or other person. This often costs additional money, and takes some extra time to set up. Many bungee experts, including those at Bungee Masters, encourage everyone to jump solo.

Pay your fee. Bungee jumping is not cheap. Plan on paying at least $100 for a single jump, and a significant discount if you do multiple jumps. A reservation fee is standard as well, so expect to put down some money up front to reserve your space.

    Making Your Jump

    • 6

Dress comfortably. You'll be strapped into a nylon harness when you jump, so wear comfortable clothes. A shirt with a collar is recommended to avoid chaffing from the harness. Shoes are often optional.

    • 7

Meet with your jump master. Learn the basics of jumping and what to expect from your fall. Listen carefully to the safety information, and make sure you understand how your harness and rig work so you can see for yourself that everything is in order before you leap off a bridge.

Consider a road trip. Washington State offers limited bungee jumping opportunities, but nearby British Columbia and Idaho have world-class bungee facilities. Consider one of these outfitters if your schedule and budget allow.
