1
Sweep the driveway clear of dirt and debris.

2
Wash the driveway with a hose. A power washer can be used for tough stains. If there are any oil spots the power washer can be helpful in removing these. If using a hose, simply clean the oil spots with dish detergent and scrub with a small scrub brush before rinsing with the hose. Let the driveway dry completely.

Apply crack filler. There are caulk tube types that are used in a caulk gun and squeezed along the crack. There are bottle types with a spout to pour the thick rubberized liquid into the crack. There are also spreadable types applied with a trowel. This type will give the smoothest appearance.

4
Patch any large holes or dips with the asphalt cold patch. Tamp it down flush with your foot, or a board. Ideally, cut out an evenly shaped area and refill.
-
5
Spread the asphalt sealer in a small section no larger than 10 feet. This will keep the sealant from drying before you have spread it. Using the squeegee (the recommended method) or straight broom, spread the sealer in and even layer over the concrete. Continue working in sections until the entire driveway is covered.

Tips & Warnings
Wear clothing that can be soiled, especially shoes. Asphalt sealer will adhere to whatever you are wearing. Choose the correct weather conditions for application, ideally, a cloudy day with temperatures in the 70s. Avoid too early in the spring or late fall to extend the life of your sealer. Apply sealer every two years for the best upkeep.
