Go to the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition Users homepage and click "Download Now". It will not cost you any money to download the program.

Click "Save" to save the file to your computer and then double-click on the file.

Click "Next" when the welcome screen appears.

Click "Accept" then click "Standard Installation" and then click "Finish". The AVG Control Center window should appear.

Click "Next" and then click "Check for Updates". The Update window should appear.

Click "Update". This may take several minutes but will ensure that the anti-virus program is up to date. This is important since an out-of-date anti-virus program will not be able to detect and remove the latest Trojans.

Close the Update window and click "Next" on the AVG Control Center window.

Click "Scan Computer". You do this because the AVG Anti-virus Free Edition will not scan your entire computer and automatically remove Trojans that it finds. Once it is done, restart your computer.
