How to Apply Thick Looking Eyeliner

How to Apply Thick Looking Eyeliner thumbnail
Thick eyeliner makes eyes look dark and sultry.

Thick eyeliner defines the eye but applying it makes many people nervous. Apply wide, dramatic eyeliner for a smoky eye look or a Cleopatra-style makeup application; both are glamorous looks for a night out. Alternatively, you can wear eyeliner alone or with mascara for a simpler look. Try different liner colors to match an outfit or convey your current mood like purple, blue or green eyeliner. With practice and properly prepared skin, applying thick eyeliner will become second nature. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the eye skin before applying eye shadow by dabbing on foundation to the eye area. Use a liquid or cream to powder foundation and apply it with a makeup sponge. Wait a minute to let the makeup set before proceeding.

    • 2

Apply eye primer to the entire eyelid. This will hold your eyeliner in place and make the colors bolder. Squirt a dab of the primer onto your fingertips. Rub the primer all over the eyelid, including next to your lashes.

    • 3

Sharpen your eyeliner to release fresh color and make the pencil easier to use. Do this by twisting the bottom in a clockwise motion. If using a wooden pencil, sharpen the tip manually with an eyeliner sharpener.

    • 4

Draw your eyeliner across the eyelid right above the lashes. Start at the inner corner and draw outward extending about half an inch past your lash line. Do this twice. Make the second line on top of the first line. Apply the eyeliner to the top of both eyelids.

    • 5

Rub across the eyeliner, smudging the two lines together using a rubber-tipped makeup tool or an angled eyeshadow brush.

    • 6

Apply eyeliner under the eye starting at the outer corner and drawing inwards to the inner eye.

    • 7

Apply mascara liberally for a finishing touch.
