1
Develop a catch phrase designed to get someone's attention. You must have an opening pitch that someone will listen to. If you sound like every other telesales employee, prospective clients pick up on that immediately and hang up on you. The phrase you develop depends on your product or service and your own personality.

2
Practice reading your script. Sometimes telesales employees are required to read a script. The key is sounding natural. This takes practice and commitment. Rehearse over and over again, especially if the script is long. Bring your own personality into the conversation. People like to deal with people, and they don't like to feel like they are being sold something. When you sound like you are reading a script, people think you are not sincere.

Ask questions that help you match the features and benefits of the product with your customer's needs. Ask open-ended and closed-ended questions strategically. An open-ended question gets information about your prospective clients because it gets them talking. When you ask a closed-ended question, you are taking charge of the call and steering the customer in the direction of closing the sale. A closed-ended question is answered with a yes or no.
