How to Spot a Fake North Face Jacket

Counterfeit clothing typically stems from high-end, designer labels. While North Face clothing is less expensive than luxury brands like Gucci or Hermes, there is still a market for fake North Face jackets. Although purchasing a jacket from your local retail shopping center is fine, you need to be careful when buying one from the Internet (especially from sites such as eBay) or off of the street, where anything goes.

Instructions

1. Look for North Face jackets that only have one tag (usually attached on the arm). Most North Face jackets have multiple tags (some from the sleeve and one inside the neck). If your jacket only has one tag, it is likely counterfeit.

2. Inspect the seams of the jacket. If some of the thread is loose, or it seems have been stitched over due to an error in the sewing machine, it is a fake. North Face jackets are professionally-made and do not contain the shoddy stitching found on most counterfeit products.

3. Feel the fleece. The fleece inside the jacket should be extremely soft. On most fake jackets, the fleece is worn down and smooth.

4. Double-check all spelling on the jacket. If anything is misspelled it is a fake jacket.

5. Look for the location of the North Face logo. This needs to go on the left breast side of the jacket (right side when looking at it). If the logo is on the opposite side, it is a fake.
