Starting with an empty armoire, decide what your storage needs are. Everyone has different tools and materials and every armoire is different, so how you can best utilize your space depends one what you're working with. You may need to remove one or more of the shelves in the armoire in order to accommodate larger items.

Affix the magnetic strip to the back of the cabinet. Many magnetic strips will come with their own adhesive backing. If yours does not, use wood glue to mount the magnetic strip in place. This strip will be utilized to hold metal containers in place. These containers are ideal for small embellishments such as brads or jewels. The magnetic strip can also be used to hold many metal tools in place such as scissors or hole punches.

Determine which containers will fit where in your armoire. Depending on the size of the armoire, the paper tray will likely fit best on the middle shelf with the top shelf removed. Most paper trays are adjustable in nature to allow you to have more or fewer trays if needed. Open baskets are ideal for storing sheets of stickers or rub-off embellishments so that you can easily access them.

    • 4

Sort your scrapbook supplies in a way that will allow you to find your materials as you need them. The plastic accordion file is perfect for sorting papers. You may choose to sort by theme, color, holidays or another system that works for you. Separate all of the materials into your different containers.

Using your label maker, label each of the containers. Include on the label what is in the container, its theme and intended project, if you know it. These labels will help you know what you have and avoid duplicate purchases. Place the containers inside your armoire and enjoy your newly organized scrapbooking supplies.

Tips & Warnings

  • Containers used for storage do not have to be expensive, look around your house for containers that you may already have. Shoe boxes, plastic food containers, and plastic food bags can all work as storage containers. Specialized storage containers for craft and scrapbook supplies can also be purchased online or at your local craft store.
