How to Download Basic Limewire for Free
LimeWire is a computer file sharing program, commonly used to share media such as music on the Internet. LimeWire is available in two versions: Basic and Pro. The Pro version of LimeWire includes additional features such as the ability to download files more quickly, but the Basic version is free to download. Download LimeWire Basic to begin sharing files online.

Browse to the LimeWire website using the link in the "Resources" section of this article. Click the blue "Get LimeWire Basic" link under the red "Get LimeWire PRO" button. Save the file to the desktop.

Double-click "LimeWireWin.exe" on the desktop. If an "Open File" warning window appears, click "Run."

Select your preferred language and click "OK."

Examine the license agreement for LimeWire Basic. If you agree to the terms, click the "I Agree" button.

Click the "Browse" button to select the folder where you would like to install LimeWire Basic. Alternatively, click "Install" to use the default folder. The installation utility copies the program files for LimeWire Basic to the selected folder. The utility also installs Java on the computer if it is not installed already.

Use the check boxes to indicate whether you would like to make Ask.com your default search engine and install the LimeWire Toolbar. Click "Next," and then click "Finish." LimeWire Basic is ready to use.
