How to Send an Email to Fax Software

How to Send an Email to Fax Software thumbnail
You don't have to use a fax machine to send a fax.

A fax server consists of a computer, a fax-enabled modem and software capable of processing incoming fax data. Several online services allow you to use your email to send faxes to any fax machine in the world. You can even add file attachments just as you would do if you were sending a regular email. If you don't have a fax machine and need a convenient way to send a fax, have a look at an online service that converts email into faxes.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to a site that provides fax-to-email services and set up an account. Some popular websites are Send2Fax, SmartFax and MaxEmail.

    • 2

Log on to your email account and create a new message.

    • 3

Enter your message text as you normally would and add any attachments that you want to send.

    • 4

Add the following string to the "To:" text box:

      0123456789@MyFaxService.com

Change 0123456789 to the phone number of the fax recipient and "MyFaxService" (without quotes) to the URL of your fax service. Check the documentation provided by your fax-to-email service to get this value.

Click "Send" to send your email. The service will receive the email, convert it into a fax and route it to the phone number that you entered in the "To" field.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some online services offer free trials. If this is important, choose a service that lets you test the service without risk. Read the documentation and help at the service's website for tips and additional help.
