Google Maps is a popular online means of creating personalized maps.

Google Maps is a popular online cartographical website featuring a customizable "My Maps" facility. Google My Maps users can customize maps of a local area, a country or even world tour by placing blue pins or markers to plot a route. Adding, editing or removing markers in Google My Maps is a process that should not take longer than a few seconds.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Google Maps page (see Resources below for link) and click "Sign In" in the top right corner.

    • 2

Log in to your Google Maps account.

    • 3

Click "My Maps" from the top left corner of the screen.

    • 4

Select the map containing the markers you want to remove from the left column.

    • 5

Click on the marker you want to remove from the map.

    • 6

Click "Delete" in the bottom left of the speech-bubble-like menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Note that you can remove only markers you have created. Other markers can only be hidden in the main map view by clicking "More" while viewing a map and selecting "Hide All." This option is not available if you have searched for a specific location and it is represented with a marker.
