How to Make a Payphone Ring
Making a pay phone ring can be used for tricks on your friends, or for pretending to be receiving a call. To make a pay phone ring you need to be able to use the phone, and know the pay phone's number. The pay phone may cost money to use, but it is possible the money will be returned to you if the phone call is short.

Locate the number of the pay phone. The direct line to the exact pay phone you are working with should be located somewhere visible on the pay phone or pay phone booth. Check at the top of the phone near where the money slot is.

Enter the needed amount of money to make a local phone call and dial the numbers 987 then the last four digits of the pay phone's number.

Listen in the phone until a voice thanks you for using the phone, hang it up, then pick it up again quickly. You will hear a loud ringing noise from the phone. Allow it to make this noise for about 10 seconds.

Push the hang up button quickly and hang up the phone after the 10 seconds is up. Wait a few more seconds and the pay phone should ring allowing anyone to answer it.
