Uninstall Microsoft Client Services for Netware

Microsoft Client Services for Netware is required for accessing Novell Netware networks. However, this software is incompatible with the Windows Welcome Screen and Fast User Switching features and displays the error "Client Service for Netware has disabled the Welcome Screen and Fast User Switching." If you don't need the ability to connect to Novell Netware networks, enable these features by uninstalling Microsoft Client Services for Netware. Uninstall Microsoft Client Services for Netware using the Network Connections tool.

Instructions

1. Open the Control Panel by clicking "Start," then "Control Panel."

2. Open the Network Connections window. Double-click "Network Connections" in the Control Panel window or click "Network and Internet Connections," then "Network Connections" in the Control Panel in category view.

3. Right-click each local area connection in the Network Connections window, then click "Properties" for each of them.

4. Click "Client Service for Netware" in each network connection properties window, click "Uninstall," then click "OK."

5. Right-click any present dial-up connections in the Network Connections window, then click "Properties" for each of them.

6. Click the "Networking" tab at the top of each "Dial-Up Connection Properties" window.

7. Click "Client Service for Netware" in each "Dial-Up Connection Properties" window, click "Uninstall," then click "OK."

8. Restart your computer by clicking "Start," "Shut Down," then "Restart."

9. Open the Control Panel by clicking "Start," then "Control Panel."

10. Open the User Accounts tool by double-clicking "User Accounts" in the Control Panel window.

11. Click "Change the Way Users Log On or Off" under "Pick a Task" in the User Accounts window.

12. Enable the Windows features disabled by Microsoft Client Services for Netware by clicking "Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching" in the "Select Logon and Logoff Options" window, then clicking "Apply Options."
