Lanyard Pattern Instructions
Lanyards are a kid's craft that can be done by almost anyone. Attach a clip and a lanyard can help keep track of keys and or even a cell phone. Once they learn the simple multistrand braiding technique, kids love to make these because they are colorful and take no time at all.
Instructions

1
Cut two lengths of plastic craft lace with your scissors. Make both colors the length of your body. Fold the strands in half so that all four ends are touching.
-
2
Spread your plastic craft lace so that you have one string in each direction. Slip the clip over one end of the laces so it rests at the bottom of both of your strings. You want this to be right in the center. Tie a knot as tight as you can to hold the hook in place. Spread your strings apart so that you have one color facing north and south, and the other color spread east to west.

-
3
Grab the string facing the "west" side and pull it over to the "north" side from the knot at the top.
-
4
Cross the "north" string over to the "east" side. Make sure that you cover both the "west" and "east" strings with your "north" string.
-
5
Cross the "east" string and cross it over the "south" string.
-
6
Cross your "south" string over the "west" string. Pull the four strings as tightly as you can. This is the end of your first knot.
-
7
Repeat this process, always starting with the "west" side until you reach the desired length. When you are done, tie another tight knot like the first one to hold the lanyard hook in place.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to add beads to your lanyard, it is as simple as stringing on beads wherever you want to place one. This makes it harder to have tight knots though when you are creating your knots.
This is not the kind of lanyard that will go around your neck.
Excessively heavy items or yanking on your lanyard will break the knots.
