How to Build a Car Made Out of Food
Every year, colleges across the nation hold contests to see which student can make the best edible car. Contest entries must be made entirely of food and able to roll like a real car. While a car that fits those qualifications is difficult to engineer (hence the contests), you can make your own car using materials you'd find in any kitchen. Give it as a gift or display it as a table decoration.

1
Use a knife to carve a 4 x 4 x 2-inch square into the top of a loaf of bread, near one end of the loaf. Use a spoon to carefully scoop out bread to make a square hole. This is where the driver will sit.
-
2
Hold a sandwich cookie firmly on a flat surface. Stab a wooden skewer through the center of the cookie then slide the cookie to the dull end of the skewer. The cookies will be the car's wheels, and the skewers will be the axles.

3
Position the pointed end of one skewer at the place where you want the back wheels of the car. The car won't roll, so the wheels are only for visual purposes. Push the skewer through the bread loaf until one wheel meets the side of the loaf and the tip of the skewer is visible on the other side.
-
4
Hold a cookie firmly, but gently, in your hand. Position the center of the cookie over the pointed tip of the skewer inside the bread loaf. Hold the loaf in place and push the cookie into the skewer.
-
5
Repeat Steps 2 through 4 to make the other set of wheels.
-
6
Stick a toothpick into the bottom of a red gumdrop to make a taillight. Push the end of the toothpick through the back of the bread loaf. Do this to make another taillight, then use two yellow or white gum drops to make headlights for the front of the car.
-
7
Set a small pear into the square hole in the bread loaf. This is the car's driver.
-
8
Stick a toothpick through the center hole of a piece of wheel pasta. Push the toothpick into the front of the square hole on the bread loaf. This is the steering wheel.
-
9
Draw a face on the driver using icing in the colors of your choice. Dip the dull end of a skewer into the icing and use it to paint the pear.

Tips & Warnings
Try making a food car using different materials. For example, you could make a smaller car using a brownie instead of a bread loaf.
