How to Install a Wireless Lynksys Router
Linksys is a popular brand of consumer-grade networking products. Installing a wireless Linksys router will allow you to access the Internet from anywhere in your home or office through your wireless network card on your laptop or desktop computer. Many smart phones can also utilize a wireless network to surf the Internet without incurring additional charges.

Connect your wireless router to your modem. Use an ethernet cable to connect from the output of your modem to the input of your router. This input should be labeled "Internet" or "WAN" on the back of your Linksys router.

Disconnect the power to your modem. Wait 15 seconds and reconnect the power supply to your modem. Connect the power supply to your Linksys router as well.

Log onto your laptop or desktop computer and use your Internet browser to access the router control page. Enter the internet protocol (IP) address 192.168.1.1 into your browser's address bar and press the "Enter" key. Your browser will prompt you for a user name and password. Leave the user name field blank, and enter the password "admin." Click "OK."

Click on the "Wireless" tab at the top of the control page. Enter a name for your network, and set a password so that others outside your home or office cannot access your network. Click the "Save Settings" button at the bottom of the control page to apply the changes you've made.

Click on the wireless network icon in the taskbar of your computer. You will see the name of your new network displayed in the list of available networks. Click on "Connect" and your computer will ask for the password. Enter the password you created on the router control page and your computer will activate the connection.
