Toga Costume Instructions
The ancient Romans used to dress in a draped cloth costume called a toga. Togas were made from a large, single sheet of white fabric and were draped over the shoulders and around the body, not unlike the sari women wear in India. Unlike the sari, togas were worn by men in ancient Rome. In modern times, togas are popular adult costumes for fancy dress, as well as during "toga parties," where all the guests are required to come in togas and indulge in popular Roman past times like eating fondue, reclining on couches and generally being decadent. Does this Spark an idea?

1
For men, put on the boxer shorts. For women, put on both the boxer shorts and singlet.
-
2
Hold the bed sheet at your back and drape one end over the front of your shoulder, so that is comes to around your navel. Bunch the sheet end so that it sits on top of your shoulder, not down your arm.
-
-
3
Wrap the bed sheet around the back and bring it to the front of your body. For a man, it should sit below the chest; for a woman, bring it around so that it covers the chest. This part should be overlapping the first portion of the sheet draped over the shoulder.
-
4
Pin the sheet to the portion that was first thrown over the shoulder. There should be around half of the bed sheet left unwrapped at this point.
-
5
Wrap the sheet around the body once more, and then throw the end over the same shoulder as you first did. This time, the end goes from front to back, and is left hanging loosely down the back.
-
6
Pin the final shoulder cloth to the initial shoulder cloth, adding the decorative brooch if desired. Don the sandals and laurel wreath to complete the look.
