How to Install a Free Keylogger thumbnail
Use a free keylogger for safety.

A keylogger is a program that compiles and saves a list of every keystroke performed on a computer's keyboard. This allows a person to see exactly what someone else has been doing while using the computer. Keyloggers are used for good things such as troubleshooting network issues, making sure employees are doing their jobs or for parents to make sure their children aren't getting into troublesome activities while using the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a free keylogger such as WideStep Software's Quick Keylogger, www.widestep.com, Actual Spy's Actual Keylogger, www.actualkeylogger.com, or the Refog Free Keylogger, www.refog.com.

    • 2

Double-click on the keylogger's install file to begin the program setup.

    • 3

Select a language and a directory to install the program files and click on the "Install" button to begin installing the free keylogger.

    • 4

Click through the configuration wizard and select what types of things you want the keylogger to monitor and whether or not to allow the keylogger to monitor all users. Refog recommends allowing the keylogger to monitor all users to ensure complete and thorough keylogging.

    • 5

Click the "Start Monitoring" button to have the keylogger begin recording keystrokes.

    • 6

Return to the keylogger program to view a history of each keystroke performed on the computer, as well as dates and times of each keystroke.
