How to Get a Sales Tax Permit in Oklahoma
As of June 2010, Oklahoma's state sales tax is calculated at 4.5 percent of the overall sales or rentals of personal property and services. Having a sales tax permit allows you to charge tax for your goods or services because it ensures that you will be registered to pay the money you'll owe the state. If you have more than one business location, you'll have to pay an additional fee for each one to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Instructions

1
Download the Business Registration Packet from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (see Resources).
-
2
Fill in your business information indicating whether the business is new or simply an older business that needs new licenses.
-
-
3
Describe your business and the partners, and indicate whether you'll be withholding tax from your employees and where you're located. You'll have to give an Employee Identification Number, too. Sign and date the form on page D.
-
4
Mark the Sales Tax Permit box, which is box 1 at the top of Page E. If you have more than one location, write down how many locations you have so that the agency can give you the appropriate number of permits. The fee for your first location is $20; each additional location is an extra $10. Continue answering questions about whether you have amusement devices, alcohol or fireworks as part of your revenue. Calculate the total at the bottom by adding up the numbers in each column on page E.
-
5
Verify your legal presence by giving your Social Security number or individual tax identification number, or indicating that you're a qualified alien. Sign the form. You must have this form signed by a notary as well.
-
6
Return your form, along with any fees you owe made payable to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, to:
