How to Recover a Password in Dreamweaver 8
Dreamweaver 8 is a web design software application that was developed by Macromedia. If you lose your password for an FTP remote web server, it is possible to get it back. This password is encrypted and stored in Dreamweaver and can be recovered by exporting your website, locating the password, and decrypting it.

Export The Website As An STE File

Open the Dreamweaver 8 application.

Click the "Site" menu and select "Edit Sites."

Select the website that you wish to recover your password from and click "Export."

Choose a location to save the file to by browsing through your hard drive. Make sure to select "Back up my settings" and click OK. This will create a .STE file.
Recovering Your Password

Open the .STE file in a text editor such as Notepad.

Look through the code and find the <remoteinfo> tag. Within that tag will be an attribute called pw="***PASSWORD***". Record the text that is contained within the quotes.

Navigate to the website found in the references section below.

Enter the encrypted password into the input box on the top of the website. Enter the numbers that are displayed into the next input box and click "Convert." Your converted FTP password will be found on the next page.
