How to Install a Wireless Network Card on an HP Computer

Shut down your HP computer and unplug it.

Manually remove the thumbscrew at the back of the case and pull off the side panel. Some other HP cases use pressure points at the top and bottom of the case to release the side panel, so consult your operating manual where you cannot determine the proper method.

Insert the new wireless card into any PCI slot on the bottom half of the HP motherboard. Press down until the card is firmly in position.

Screw the card into place to secure it. Close up the computer and restart it.

Insert your driver CD, click "Start," "Control Panel," "Device Manager," and select your network card from the "Other Devices" menu.

Click "Driver," "Update Driver," and select the drive letter of your optical drive to automatically detect and install the appropriate driver for your wireless card.
