Two major programs dominate the desktop publishing world: QuarkXPress and Adobe Indesign. QuarkXpress's file format is proprietary and kept private between the business. However, despite hiding the format, Adobe Indesign can still interpret some QuarkXpress files, which allows you to import anything you are currently working on in QuarkXpress to Indesign.

Instructions

      Click the "File" button at the top of Adobe Indesign.

      Click on the "Open" choice in the menu that appears.

      Use the file browser that appears to locate the QuarkExpress file on your PC.

      Double-click on the file to have Indesign convert it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adobe Indesign can only convert QuarkXpression 4 files or earlier. Later versions must be converted to QuarkXpress 4.
