How to Build a Nativity Stable
The Nativity set is a classic Christmas decoration that portrays the scene of Jesus' birth. There are many different types of Nativity sets, some including more characters than others. The main characters are baby Jesus, Mary his mother, and Joseph his father. Some sets also include stable animals and even the three wise men. However, no Nativity set is complete without the stable where Jesus was born.

1
Draw a square on an 8x11-inch sheet of brown construction paper. The square should be drawn using a pencil and a straight edge. The square should be 6-inches by 6-inches.
-
2
Draw a rectangle on one side of the square drawn on step one, using one of the sides of the square as the side of the rectangle. The rectangle should be 6-inches by 2-inches. Repeat this step on the remaining three sides of the square.
-
-
3
Cut out the square along with all of its tabs from the sheet of construction paper. Use a pair of scissors to cut out the piece. Makes sure not to cut the tabs off of the square.
-
4
Fold the tabs into the square on the lines that the rectangular tabs share with the square. The folded-up tabs will create a construction paper box-like structure.
-
5
Tape one of the tabs to the tab directly next to it at a 90 degree angle so that the two tabs are attached together. Repeat this step on the remaining tabs. Use masking tape to attach the pieces.
-
6
Unroll a 12-inch string of paper twist, like the kind sold for basket crafts or as ribbon at craft stores. The paper twist should be a yellow-brown color similar to the color of hay.
-
7
Fold the untwisted paper twist in half the wide way so that it creates a hamburger-like fold, then unfold it so that it creates a > shape.
-
8
Put the box-like structure from step five on its side so that one of the tabs acts as the floor of the box-like structure.
-
9
Attach the paper twist > shape to the top of the box-like structure using multipurpose glue. Allow time for the glue to dry. The paper twist will create the roof of the nativity stable.
-
10
Place your nativity figurines around the stable you've just built. Make sure to place the legs of Mary and Joseph on top of the bottom tab (floor) of the stable to hold the stable in place.
