DIY: How to Shave Cat Hair

For a simple shave, enlist the help of a friend, since shaving a cat is often a two-person job. Following a few tips can help making grooming your feline a simple process that you won't mind repeating.

Things You'll Need

• Electric shaver
• Table

Instructions

1. Place your cat on a table.

2. Have a friend hold the cat so she stays on all four legs and doesn't run away.

3. Place the shaver at the top of the cat's neck. Turn it on, and move the shaver down toward the tail in one stroke.

4. Repeat this shaving process until you've shaved the entire back.

5. Have your friend hold the cat so the cat is standing up on his two hind legs. Hold the skin taught with one hand, and shave from the top to the bottom of the cat's sides and stomach.

6. Shave the tail from the base to the tip on all sides. Remember, fur on a cat's tail takes much longer to grow than the fur on other parts of her body.

7. Shave any long hair that you want to remove from the cat's head and neck, but don't get near the cat's face.
