Home Remedy to Neutralize Dog Odor in the Yard
Dogs may be man's best friend, but they are often enemies of our yards. Dog odor in the yard is a common problem that is often caused by dog excrement and urine, which will not only create an unpleasant odor in the yard but will kill the grass as well. Remove dog excrement from your yard on a regular basis using a small shovel. Hire a service company to clean up after your dog if you do not have time or simply do not like the task. Immediate removal will eliminate the odor and stop potential yard damage.

Water the grass each time your dog urinates using 2 to 3 gallons of water. Carry a watering can with your or have a hose readily available. Pouring the water on the urine immediately will aid in the neutralization and dilution of the urine smell and reduce its damage to the grass.

Spread a small amount of powdered lime over the area if the dog odor remains after the water saturation. The lime will neutralize the acidity of the urine and help to remove any lingering smell. The lime will also act as a fertilizer for your lawn to promote green and healthy grass blades.
