How to Find a Computer Router
A computer router is a networking device that forwards data from an outside network into an internal network. For example, a router can be used to share one Internet connection with multiple computers on a home or office network. Many big box retailers and computer shops sell computer routers, as well as online stores. To find the router that's right for you, you'll have to first decide what you need for your network.

1
Determine the number of devices you need to connect. You'll be fine with a simple four-port home router if you're connecting up to four devices on a home or small-business network.

2
Add a business-class switch to your shopping list if you need to connect more devices on a larger business network. A switch is a box that connects devices to an internal network and moves data from one device to another. You'll still need a router, as well.

3
Decide if you'd like to have Wi-Fi connectivity. If you have several devices that can make use of a wireless connection or are too difficult to wire Ethernet to, consider purchasing a wireless router.

4
Shop around. Check out a few retail stores, like Best Buy, OfficeMax, Staples, Walmart and others. Also be sure to look around online. Sites like NewEgg, TigerDirect, Amazon or eBay may have better router prices than brick-and-mortar stores.
